The children first took part in a Discovering Chemistry workshop and then explored the museum.
Musical Morning Recording
All the children enjoyed a lovely musical morning in school a couple of weeks ago with Frankie and Pete from Mambo Jambo, have a listen to our recording below:
World Book Day 2022
We have had a wonderful day celebrating the 25th Anniversary of World Book Day today. Each classroom door has been decorated with a giant book cover. The children and staff dressed up for the occasion and we all enjoyed sharing our favourite characters and books. We had Peter Pan, Willie Wonka, an enormous green dragon, Princess Belle and Mary Poppins to name a few! The day began with a whole school assembly led by our Librarians. They had prepared a quiz for the children with some rather tricky questions and we sang our favourite World Book Day songs.
Mambo Jambo
On Wednesday 16th of February, Mambo Jambo came into school and performed some music which made lots of noise! Pete and Frankie, who were a duet, played lots of instruments including the accordion, drums, steel pans, saxophone, clarinet and banjo.
First, we did body percussion using a simple rhythm pattern. Then they taught us a traditional sea shanty using ‘call and response’. Pete and Frankie were very impressed with our singing. Finally, they told us about the different carnival instruments and we all played the claves. We made up a rhythm using the words, ‘coconuts are nice, pineapple is nice’. We all joined in with the singing and dancing – just like a real carnival. It was great fun!

Children in Need 2021
On Friday 19th November, children prepared activities in school for Children in Need and they chose to come to school wearing pijamas.

We would like to thank you all for your amazing support.
Magic Show
Reported by Seth, Gracie and James
On Thursday 21st of October, a magician came to our school. He did multiple tricks. Our favourite trick was when he made a pumpkin disappear. He also made some amazing Halloween characters made out of balloons. We were all very eager to be his assistant magician. Lillian, Seth and Andrew did an excellent job! It was super fun. It was really exciting and we laughed a lot. The blow up cemetery was amazing.
Harvest Festival
Reported by Lily and John
On Thursday 21st October 2021, we had our annual Harvest Festival. The nursery children sang ‘A Dingle Dangle Scarecrow’. Team Marble performed ‘The Gingerbread Man’. Team Amethyst played ‘Harvest Rock’ on the recorder and a rhythm piece called ‘Harvest Sogo’. Lily and John played ‘Autumn’ on the violin. To end our Harvest Festival, Year 5 and 6 read their poems.
The children brought in lots of food which we will be donating to Stanhope food bank.
Save the trees
As an end of our unit on Growing Our Future, children from team Amethyst have made these videos to remind everyone about the importance of trees.
We hope you enjoy them…
A virtual World Book Day 2021
Throughout this week, the children have engaged with various activities promoting a love of reading. We’ve had virtual story times, a virtual quiz, an online I-spy twenty characters and a very funny tongue twister competition! On Thursday, the children dressed up as their favourite character from a book – we had Cedric Diggory, Minion, Darth Vader, Stanley Ipkiss and the Karate Kid to mention a few. The children (and staff) thoroughly enjoyed trying to guess “The Masked Reader”.
Thank you to everyone for taking part in the virtual activities – we hope you had lots of fun!
