Willie Wonka’s Science Factory
As part of our World book week, Class 2 has been reading Charlie and the Chocolate factory. The children had great fun working for Willie Wonka after he had left them three investigations to complete. The children were exceptional employees and managed to test and explain to Willie Wonka a formula for Stickiness so he could make a car using only sweets. They found out the chemical reaction he needed to create his exploding aliens and finally they found the best soluble colour so Willi Wonka could make his new ever changing gobstopper. Great Science Team 2!
Stable Structures
Our Art and Design topic has been to make picture Frames for our favourite locations. We had to think carefully about the materials we wanted to use, the aesthetics of the design as well as how we could make our frames stable. We investigated making a structure stable using different materials but the hardest challenge was when the children could use only paper to make a prototype. They found out that a stable structure is both strong and needs a wide base.
Team 2 visit St. Michael and All Angels Church, Frosterley
We walked down the aisle and sat in the pews where the congregation sits during worship. We could see many things from here including the Altar!
Dance Festival
On 11th February children from Team 2 went to Rookhope Village Hall to take part in our cluster dance festival.
Team 2’s Dance combined a variety of rhythmic sounds and movements. Our music was created through our bodies and voice. We linked together choreographed steps with paired/small group interpretations to show our appreciation of the contemporary genre.
Everyone did very well and thoroughly enjoyed themselves watching the performances by other schools as well as performing our own dance.
